Port Hope Patterns Ltd was opened in April of 1983. It was owned and managed from the first day by Andrew Geekie. A year after opening, John Ebbrell joined Andrew in partnership. Both are master pattern makers with decades of pattern making experience prior to the founding of the company. These men oversaw the growth and technological development of the company for 25 years.
In 2008, looking towards the future of the company – successors were chosen to take over from Andy and John - the privileged men being Steven ten Hoope, and Phillip Ebbrell, both skilled patternmakers and CAD/CAM programmers. Steven, as a long time employee and dedicated worker was a natural selection. Phillip, after training and working as a patternmaker in BC for many years returned to Port Hope anticipating this eventual transition.
The transition in responsibilities from Andrew and John to Steven and Phil will continue for the next couple of years giving ample time for the new owners to learn the ‘ins and outs’ of the business. Steven and Phil can absorb much of the traditional patternmaking techniques learned over the years in the trade by Andrew and John. The new owners will remain at the cutting edge of manufacturing technology, as this has been the key to the success of the business since its doors opened.
